Learn to Ride Track
(LTRT) is an introductory session for cyclist of all abilities who have not ridden on the track before. LTRT teaches the
basic skills of:
- Handling a fixed gear track bike
- Entering and exiting the track
- Riding the banks
- Velodrome etiquette
- Riding pacelines
The only requirement is the ability to ride a bike.
These are not training sessions, so you can race or do a training ride in the morning and still do the LTRT in the afternoon. Only track bikes are allowed on the track; these will be provided at the LTRT.
If you have them, please bring along:
- Cycling shoes and pedals (there are toe-clip pedals for those with takkies)
- Saddle height (measured from the center of the crank axle to the top of the saddle)
- Helmet and cycling kit
- Warm clothing; cycling jacket and tights and a track suite (it can get chilly on the track)
- Something to drink and some snacks (the track's shop won't be open)
- Sunblock
- A willing body and mind
LTRT is scheduled as needed. Check the calendar for dates and specific details for each session. Please send an email to pilditchltrt@gmail.com if there is no scheduled LTRT so that we can schedule one. You can also email us if you would like to schedule a LTRT sessions for your club or private group.
